Your team
Line Status (BLF): see who is free and pick up their calls
Live presence for every extension (free, ringing, on a call) and pickup groups that let team members answer each other's ringing phones.
Which plans include it
Included on Growth and above. On Free Trial, Entry, Plus you can add it on its own at £2.95 a month from Features & add-ons.
What it means
BLF (Busy Lamp Field) is the "light" that shows a colleague's line status. Pickup groups let you answer a colleague's ringing phone from your own.
What it does
- Shows each monitored extension's live status.
- Creates pickup groups — members can answer each other's ringing calls.
- Picks up a ringing call for another extension with one click.
Every part of the page
- Monitored Extensions
- Live status of each extension, with the source shown ("Live from the Silux Call phone system", or derived from active calls when the phone system cannot be reached).
- Pickup Groups
- Each group and its members. "answer from:" shows who can pick up.
- Group Name / Extensions
- Name the group and list extensions, comma or space separated.
- Refresh
- Reloads statuses.
How to use it
Let the sales team answer each other's calls
- Press "New Pickup Group".
- Name: Sales. Extensions: 201 202 203.
- Create Group.
- When a colleague's phone rings, pick it up from the Line Status list.
Examples
Before you transfer
See that extension 205 is already on a call (red), so you take a message instead of transferring the caller into voicemail.
Answer a colleague's phone
Put the sales team in one pickup group; if a colleague's phone rings while they are away, any of you can answer it.
Recommended settings
- ★Make pickup groups match real teams who sit or work together.
- ★Check a colleague is free here before transferring a caller.
Abbreviations on this page
- BLF — Busy Lamp Field
- A live light (or icon) showing whether a colleague's extension is free, ringing or on a call — so you know before you transfer.
- Example: A green light next to extension 202 means Tom is free; red means he is on a call.
- Ext. — Extension
- A short internal number (usually 3 or 4 digits) for each person or phone. Calls between extensions are free and never leave your system.
- Example: Dial 204 to reach the warehouse.
