What it means

The Silux Call app for iPhone and Android has two screens of switches. Settings controls how calls reach your phone (incoming, outgoing, voicemail, call forwarding, Do not disturb). Notifications controls which alerts the app shows. The switches are saved on our servers, so they work even when the app is closed, and they apply to you only, not to your colleagues.

What it does

  • Incoming calls off: your app stops ringing. Callers go to your voicemail (or your forward number if call forwarding is on). Colleagues' phones still ring as normal.
  • Outgoing calls off: the app cannot call out. You hear a short message if you try. 999 and 112 always work.
  • Voicemail off: callers you do not answer hear "nobody is available" and no message is taken.
  • Call forwarding on: calls you do not answer ring the UK mobile or landline you enter for up to 45 seconds, then go to your voicemail.
  • Do not disturb on: the same as Incoming calls off, for when you are busy. Colleagues see that you are busy if they have Presence alerts on.
  • Notifications: choose which of 12 alerts reach your phone. Turning an alert off never stops calls or voicemails, only the alert.
  • Switches start in the right position for your account: features on your plan are on, features not on your plan are off and greyed out. Anything you change is remembered.

Every part of the page

Settings are locked / Unlock
The switches are protected by a PIN so nobody who picks up your phone can change them. Tap Unlock and enter your PIN. They stay unlocked for an hour, or until you tap Lock.
Your PIN
You choose it. The first time you tap Unlock, the PIN you type (4 digits or more) becomes your PIN. Set / change PIN changes it (it asks for the old one). Forgotten it? An account admin opens Users in the dashboard and taps the key button (Reset app PIN); you then choose a new one the next time you tap Unlock.
Incoming calls
On: your app rings for your calls. Off: it does not ring, and callers go to your voicemail or forward number.
Outgoing calls
On: you can call out from the app. Off: calls out are refused with a spoken message. Emergency calls always work.
Do not disturb
Stops your app ringing without changing anything else. It does not send calls to a colleague: if your number also rings other people, their phones still ring; if nobody else rings, callers go to your voicemail (or your forward number). For the whole account, use Do Not Disturb on the dashboard instead (see related guide).
Voicemail
On: callers you do not answer can leave a message. Off: they hear "nobody is available" instead. Greyed out if voicemail is not on your plan.
Call forwarding and Forward to number
On: calls you do not answer are sent to the number you enter (UK landlines and mobiles only, for example 07700 900123). If that number does not answer, the caller goes to your voicemail. Greyed out if call forwarding is not on your plan.
Included in your plan
The list of features your plan includes (transfer, recording, hunt groups and so on). These are not switches: they show Enabled when your plan has them. To get one that says Disabled, upgrade or add it in the dashboard under Features & add-ons.
Notifications: Incoming calls
Wakes your phone for a call when the app is closed. Off: the app only rings while it is open on screen.
Notifications: Chat messages
An alert when a colleague sends you a chat message.
Notifications: Voicemail
An alert when a new voicemail arrives.
Notifications: Missed calls
An alert when a call to your number was not answered.
Notifications: Call transfers
An alert when a colleague transfers a call to you.
Notifications: Conference
An alert when you are added to a conference call.
Notifications: Recordings
An alert when a call recording is saved (if recording is on your plan).
Notifications: Transcriptions
An alert with the text of a voicemail once it has been turned into words (if transcription is on your plan).
Notifications: Answered elsewhere
An alert when a call that rang you was answered by a colleague.
Notifications: Do not disturb
An alert when Do Not Disturb for the whole account is turned on or off in the dashboard.
Notifications: Presence
An alert when a colleague turns Do not disturb on or off in their app (at most once every 5 minutes per person).
Notifications: Low balance
An alert when you have used 90% and 100% of your plan's minutes.

How to use it

Unlock the settings for the first time

  1. Open the Silux Call app and go to Settings.
  2. Tap Unlock.
  3. Type a PIN of 4 digits or more and remember it: it becomes your PIN.
  4. The switches can now be changed for the next hour.

Stop your phone ringing for a while (Do not disturb)

  1. Settings, Unlock.
  2. Turn on Do not disturb.
  3. Your callers go to your voicemail. Turn it off again to take calls.

Send calls you miss to your mobile

  1. Settings, Unlock.
  2. Turn on Call forwarding.
  3. Enter your mobile number, for example 07700 900123.
  4. Calls you do not answer in the app now ring your mobile.

Choose which alerts you get

  1. Open Notifications from the menu.
  2. Unlock if asked.
  3. Turn off the alerts you do not want. Calls, voicemails and recordings still happen as normal.

Reset a forgotten PIN (account admin)

  1. Log in to the dashboard and open Users.
  2. Find the person and tap the key button (Reset app PIN).
  3. They tap Unlock in the app and choose a new PIN.
  • ★Leave Incoming calls, Voicemail and the Incoming calls, Voicemail and Missed calls alerts on so you never miss a customer.
  • ★Use Do not disturb rather than turning Incoming calls off, so it is obvious to you later why your phone is quiet.
  • ★If you want a colleague to take your calls while you are busy, use a hunt group or call forwarding to their number, not Do not disturb.
  • ★Choose a PIN you will remember, and do not share it.
  • ★A greyed-out switch means that feature is not on your plan. Upgrade or add it in the dashboard (Features & add-ons) and the switch becomes available.
  • ★Your switches are saved on our servers, so they keep working when the app is closed and come back if you log in again on a new phone.
  • ★Each user has their own switches and their own PIN.

Abbreviations on this page

DND — Do Not Disturb
Stops your phone ringing. Callers go to voicemail instead. Outgoing calls still work.
Example: Turn DND on during a meeting and calls go to voicemail until you turn it off.

Questions

Why are some switches greyed out?+

Because that feature is not on your plan. For example, Call forwarding is greyed out on plans without call forwarding, and the Recordings alert is greyed out if call recording is not on your plan. Upgrade or add the feature in the dashboard and the switch becomes available.

Does Do not disturb send my calls to someone else?+

No. It only stops your app ringing. If your number also rings colleagues, their phones still ring. If not, callers go to your voicemail, or to your forward number if you have Call forwarding on. To pass calls to a colleague, use a hunt group or call forwarding.

What is the difference between Do not disturb in the app and on the dashboard?+

The app switch is for you only. Do Not Disturb on the dashboard is for the whole account: every call to your numbers goes to voicemail.

If I turn off an alert, do I lose calls or voicemails?+

No. Alerts are just the messages on your phone. Calls still ring and voicemails, missed calls and recordings are still saved in the app and dashboard. The one exception is the Incoming calls alert: with it off, the app only rings while it is open on screen.

I forgot my PIN.+

Ask an account admin to open Users in the dashboard and tap the key button (Reset app PIN). Then tap Unlock in the app and choose a new PIN.

Can I forward to an international number?+

No. Call forwarding goes to UK landlines and mobiles only.
