How to divert your business number to your mobile (and back again)

Ring your mobile when you are out, your desk when you are in, and voicemail when you are off. Five ways to divert a UK business number, and which one to use when.

A missed call is often a lost customer. If your business number only rings a desk phone, every call that comes in while you are out is a gamble. With a cloud phone number you can send calls wherever you are, and put them back with one tap. Here are the five ways to do it.

1. Answer on the mobile app (no divert needed)

The simplest option is not to divert at all. Install the Silux Call app on your mobile and your business number rings the app, wherever you are, on Wi-Fi or mobile data. You answer as your business, and when you call out the customer sees your business number, not your personal mobile.

2. Call forwarding to any UK number

Call forwarding sends every call straight to another UK number, such as your personal mobile or a colleague. It is ideal when you cannot use the app. Turn it on and off from your dashboard in seconds.

3. Ring several phones at once (hunt groups)

A hunt group rings a list of phones together, or one after another. For example, the office desk phone and your mobile ring together, and whichever is answered first takes the call. Hunt groups are included from the Entry plan.

4. Find me / follow me

Find me / follow me tries you in order: your desk first, then your mobile, then a colleague, then voicemail. You set how long each step rings. It is included from the Plus plan, and it is the best option if you move between places during the day.

5. Holiday mode and working hours

Holiday mode is one switch that diverts everything while you are away: to a colleague, a mobile, or a greeting and voicemail. You can set it for bank holidays or your own dates, and it switches itself back. Business-hours routing (from Plus) does the same every day: calls ring the office in opening hours and go to voicemail or a mobile out of hours.

Which one should you use?

  • Out and about every day: the mobile app.
  • No smartphone or patchy data: call forwarding to your mobile number.
  • Two or three people sharing the phone: a hunt group.
  • You move between desk, car and home: find me / follow me.
  • Closed or on holiday: holiday mode or business-hours routing.

Will the caller know their call was diverted?

No. They dial your business number and you answer. With the app, outgoing calls show your business number too, so your personal mobile number stays private.
