Cookies Policy

Effective 23 May 2026.

We use cookies and similar storage to keep you signed in, remember your settings, honour affiliate referrals, and measure how the site performs. This policy explains each cookie and how to control them, in line with UK PECR and UK GDPR.

Categories

Strictly necessary

Required to deliver the service. Cannot be disabled. Includes the session token and CSRF token.

Functional — affiliate referral

If you reach our site through an affiliate or partner link (a URL containing?ref=), we store two first-party cookies so we can credit the introducing partner if you later sign up — whether or not you use a discount code. These are first-party only; they are not shared with, and do not track you across, other websites.

  • silux_ref — the affiliate’s referral code. Expires after 90 days.
  • silux_vid — a random first-party visitor ID. Used to link your visit to a later signup, and to count unique visitors and recognise returning visitors for our own website analytics. It is not shared with third parties. Expires after 90 days.

We also keep a server-side log of the referred visit (referral code, time, approximate IP, browser user-agent, landing page and any UTM parameters) so commission and partner activity can be reconciled and audited. See our Affiliate Programme Terms and Privacy Policy for how this data is used and your rights over it.

Preferences

Remember your selected language, dark/light mode, dismissed banners, and your cookie choices (silux_cookie_consent_v1, 12 months).

Statistics

Anonymous performance metrics. We use a self-hosted Plausible Analytics instance — no third-party cookies. Off until you accept.

Marketing

Used only after explicit opt-in via the cookie banner. We do not load the Meta Pixel or LinkedIn Insight tag without consent.

Manage

Use the “Cookie settings” link (bottom-left of every page) to change your statistics and marketing choices at any time. Browser controls also let you block or delete cookies. Blocking the functional affiliate cookies will not stop you using the site, but a partner may not receive credit for your visit.
