Getting Started
Quick Start Guide
Get from signup to your first answered call, and what happens across the 14-day trial.
This walks you from a new account to a phone that rings. It takes about ten minutes, most of which is choosing how calls should be routed.
1. Create your account
Sign up at /auth/register with an email address and password, or use the Google or Facebook buttons. No card is required to start.
Every new account begins a 14-day free trial. There is no permanently free plan, and paid plans do not have their own trial. One trial per person and per household.
2. Your number is allocated for you
As soon as the account is created we allocate you a UK landline at random from a pool reserved for trials. You do not choose it — number selection is a paid-plan feature. The allocated number appears on the signup confirmation and in Dashboard → Phone Numbers.
3. Set up a device to answer on
Open Dashboard → Extensions. Each user gets their own extension and SIP credentials. You can answer calls in three ways:
- •The browser softphone built into the dashboard — nothing to install
- •A desktop or mobile SIP client, using the credentials on the Extensions page
- •Call forwarding to an existing mobile or landline, set per number
4. Decide what happens when someone calls
Dashboard → Routing controls this. The simplest useful setup is a single rule sending the number straight to your extension, with voicemail as the fallback. From there you can add an IVR menu, a hunt group, or business-hours rules.
5. Test it
Call your allocated number from a mobile. If it does not ring, check that your extension shows as registered on the Extensions page — an unregistered extension is the usual cause.
What happens as the trial runs out
We send reminders on day 9, day 12 and day 14 by SMS and email. At the end of day 14 the line is disconnected automatically and the number returns to the trial pool, where it may be reallocated to another customer. Ordering a paid plan before then keeps your service running without interruption.
A trial number cannot be recovered once it has been released. If you need to keep the number, order a plan before the trial ends.
