How much does a business phone system cost in the UK? (2026 prices)
Real monthly prices for a cloud business phone system in the UK: what a sole trader, a small office and a 10-person team actually pay, and the costs people forget.
With the copper landline network closing on 31 January 2027, most UK businesses are pricing up a replacement phone system for the first time in years. The good news: a cloud phone system costs a fraction of an old line rental plus a phone system in a cupboard. Here is what you actually pay, with real numbers.
The short answer
A cloud business phone system in the UK costs roughly £5 to £20 a month for a small business, with no hardware to buy. You pay a monthly fee for the plan, which includes your UK number, the users on it and a bundle of calls. Silux Call prices (per month, excluding VAT) are:
- Entry, £4.75: 1 user and your own UK landline number, unlimited inbound calls and 2,000 outbound UK minutes. Includes a "press 1 for sales" menu, hunt groups, voicemail to email and holiday mode.
- Plus, £8.95: 3 users on one landline, unlimited calls to UK landlines and mobiles, call queues, business-hours routing and automatic call recording.
- Growth, £11.95: 6 users, conference calls, call park, supervisor listen-in and the scam and spam shield.
- Pro, £18.95: 10 users, call transcription, card payments over the phone and AI receptionist minutes.
Need another number on the same account? An extra landline is £5.99 a month and adds one more call at a time.
What it costs by business size
Sole trader or one-person business
Entry at £4.75 a month covers most one-person businesses: a proper local number that rings your mobile app, desk phone or browser, with voicemail sent to your email. Over a year that is £57 plus VAT, less than many people pay for a single month of a traditional landline with line rental.
Small office (2 to 3 people)
Plus at £8.95 a month gives three users one shared number with unlimited UK calls, so nobody watches the minutes. Calls can ring everyone at once, ring in turn, or wait in a queue with music until someone is free.
Growing team (up to 10 people)
Growth (6 users) or Pro (10 users) adds the tools a busier team needs: listen-in and whisper for training, call park, conference calls, transcription and phone payments. Even Pro works out under £2 per user per month.
Costs people forget
- VAT. Business phone prices are usually quoted without VAT. 20% is added on top, which a VAT-registered business can normally reclaim.
- Hardware. You do not need any. The free mobile, desktop and browser apps work on what you already own. Desk phones are optional.
- Moving your number. Some providers charge to port your existing number. Porting is free with every Silux Call plan.
- Contracts. Long contracts make the cheapest monthly price expensive if you outgrow it. Silux Call needs 30 days' notice and no long contract.
- Calls abroad. Plans cover UK landlines, mobiles and freephone numbers. International calling is available on request, at extra cost.
How to compare quotes fairly
- Count users and numbers separately: some providers charge per user, others per line.
- Check what "unlimited" covers. Usually UK landlines and mobiles, not 084, 087 or 09 numbers.
- Ask whether call recording, menus and queues are included or extra.
- Check the notice period and any setup or porting fees.
